How to place an ad
Q: How do I place an ad?
A: Once you have Register to the site free of charge ( Be sure to write down your username & password)
Login to your account
Select My Account
Now you have the option to select where your want your ads to be placed.
Select one of the following.
( For Personal Items Only) Select General Merchandise for Sale for the Classified Suite
( For Business Accounts / Service Ads) Select Community Guide & Directory
Real Estate
Type in the Title of your ad
Type in the description of your item for sale ( Please include your phone number in the ad)
Type ads in lower case (NOT ALL CAP) and select the category: Car, Furniture Etc...
Select Save Your ad as a draft form
Select Review / Edit your ad.
Once you are satisfied with your ad click Run.
Once your ad has been approved it will Go Live! (Ads approved 3 / 4 times a day)

Q: Do I have to register to use the site?
A: No. You can browse and search ads without registering. You should still register, to save time, as the site will remember various preferences for you. If you want to create ads, you will need to register.
Q: Do I Have to Register to Create Ads?
A: Yes. You must be a registered user to create ads.
Q: How much does it cost to register?
A: Nothing. Registration is FREE.

A: Yes
Q: How do I choose a password?
A: You should choose something that's easy to remember, but make it something that people can't easily guess. A random mix of letters and numbers works well. Example: 33jo45go.
Be sure to write your username and password down for future references.
Q: How do I change my password?
A: You can change your password by going to MY ACCOUNT
then Update Your Profile and Privacy Options
There you can enter your new password.
Q: What if I forget my password?
A: From the homepage click on Login. Click on the link that says, "If you can't remember your password, click here".
Then enter your user ID and a new password will be emailed to the address you have on file.

A: If you don't see a category listed, choose Miscellaneous
Q: I sold my stuff. How do I stop my ad from running?
A: From the My Account page, click on the Stop link to the left of the ad.
Q: I created an ad, but it does not show up in search results. Why?
A: You need to run your ad. Go to My Account and click on Run ad to the left of the ad you wish to run. Your ad will run as soon as it approved.
Q: I placed an ad, but I don't see it on the web site.
A: All ads must approved first. We approve ads several times each day.
Q: What is the difference between a featured ad and a non-featured ad?
A: A featured ad is one with a picture and will seen first.
Q: Can I make changes to my ad, such as price?
A: Yes. From your accounts page just select the ad you wish to make the change to and select edit. Then select Extend, so that We will know that a change as been made
Q: How Long Does an Ad Run?
A: Each ad runs for 30 days on the web site, you can extend your ad anytime for additional time. Ads placed before 9 AM Thursday will be published in our printed version of Northwest Georgia Cla$$ifieds for 14 days
All ads must be typed in lower case (NOT ALL CAP) (be sure to put in phone number in the decription) Ads without a phone number will not be published in NW Georgia Cla$$ifieds
Q: How do I recieve email alerts?
A: From your accounts page select classified email alerts. You can then select up to 5 Categories and from up to 5 regions to recieve email alerts
Q: How do I upload pictures to my ads?
A: Publish a Picture From a Computer Folder
To publish a picture from My Pictures or another folder on the computer:
1.In Windows Explorer, click the picture thumbnails, or the folder that contains the pictures that you want to publish.
2.Under File and Folder Tasks, click Publish this file to the Web or Publish this folder to the Web. If you selected more than one file, click Publish the selected items to the Web.
3.When the Web Publishing Wizard opens, click Next.
4.Follow steps 5 through 8 in the previous section.
Q: What size should I make my pictures?
A: Photos should not be larger than 300 pixels wide by 300 pixels high. If they are, the site will automatcially shrink your photos to be no larger than 300 pixels wide by 300 pixels high. When the site shrinks your photos to fit, it will maintain the aspect ratio of the original photo.
How to Add Photos Faster - Photo files (JPEG files) from digital cameras and scanners can be small sized files (50,000 bytes or less) or very large files (500,000 bytes or more) depending on the settings of your digital camera or scanner. If your photo files are larger than 50,000 bytes, we recommend that you shrink these files on your PC BEFORE you use the site to upload them. If you do this, it will take a lot less time for the site to copy files from your computer to attach them to your ad. If you have a slow Internet connection and try to use a 500,000 byte photo file, it may take 5 minutes for that one photo to be added to the site.
Software to Use for Photos - If you want to shrink your photo files or edit your photos, you will need to use a program on your computer to do this. Programs that can be used to do this include: Microsoft Photo Editor, Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Corel Draw and similar products.
Q: Will my personal listings that I have on the web site go into the printed version of Northwest Georgia Cla$$ified$?
A: Yes! Provided that its a personal item. We ask that you Help Us, Help You by picking up a copy of Northwest Georgia Cla$$ifieds each Monday in your convenience store (99ยข) to help us cover the cost of running your ads for free.
Q: How can I set up Email alerts to be contacted about items I'm looking For?
A: From your accounts page select Email Alerts.
You can choose up to 5 categories such as yardsales, land listings, Antiques, Etc...
Next select the region you would be interested in, Such as the Region you live in, and / or any other regions in the area
We will then automatically email you any ads that match your interests.
Q: What is a URL?
A: A URL is a web site address, example http://www.negeorgiaonline.com. It will create a link back to "Your" web site. URL's are not allowed for links from classifieds, unless you are a paying customer
Q: When I register, what do I put in, where it says profile?
A: A profile is a brief description of yourself. Example a Realtor, or a Business. You do not need to put anything in Profile if you are placing personal items for sale
Q: I placed my ad on the web site, but it is no longer in the printed version of NW Georgia Classifieds. How do I get it back in the book?
A: Ads that are placed on the web site will run for 30 days. However they run 13 to 20 days in our printed version of NW Georgia Classifieds. To get your ads back in select EXTEND on the ads you wish to renew.
Q: I have added pictures and made a price change in my ads. Will they show up with the new changes in the next issue of NW Georgia Classifieds?
A: If you make changes you will need to select EXTEND on your ads. This will notify us of your changes.
Q: When is the ad dead line to get ads placed ?
A: Your ads must be placed BEFORE 9 AM Thursday to be in the next issue of NW Georgia Cla$$ified$

A: ALL classified ads for private parties in our site are FREE OF CHARGE
Q: What is the difference between individual or business ads?
A: Individuals can place their personal items free of charge. Business ads can be placed in our Community Section Any type ad where an individual offers to sale a product / service is considered to be a business ad. This includes home type businesses. Example Baby sitters. Sit with the elderly, Lawn care, Plumbing, EBay, Etc...
Q: Is it safe to enter my credit card information over your site?
A: YES. NW Georgia Online.com understands the importance of security for our consumers. Where applicable, we use the latest SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption technology to protect sensitive personal or financial information during transmission. This allows your personal information to be submitted in a secure environment while reaching the intended parties. An SSL-capable web browser is needed to support this encryption technology. Additionally, credit card information is not stored on our site.
Regions
Q: How Do Regions Work?
A: NW Georgia Online.com covers the U.S. All states and any city with a population of 100,000 or more is listed as a region. When you register or create ads, you select a region. When you browse ads, ads in your region will be shown first. When you search for ads, ads in your region will be shown first.
Q: What region should I put my ad in?
A: The region you live in. By default the region will be the region you specified on your profile when you registered, but you can change this at any time.
Q: Will my ad be visible in other regions?
A: Yes. All ads are visible in any region. The system will, however, always show a person ads in their region first, then ads from outside their region.
Q: I don't see my city listed. What region should I choose?
A: Choose the city / state closest to you.
Privacy
Q: I don't want my name, phone number or email address to appear on your site. What should I do?
A: You can have all your personal information remain private. Update your personal privacy preferences from the My Account page.
Q: If all my information is private how can a buyer contact me?
A: When your ad appears, instead of showing your contact information the following appears: "This seller has chosen to remain private. You may contact this seller via anonymous email by clicking here." The prospective buyer completes an on-line form and the system sends you an email without revealing your information to the prospective buyer.

Q: I don't see a category with my type of business under Community.
A: Please select Other. Let us know the type of business you have and we will add it to the categories.
